Bird Teams Up with Wimoov to Expand Inclusive Mobility in France

BIRD & WIMOOV: a nationwide partnership to advance sustainable, inclusive and equitable mobility in France

Wimoov — a leading force in inclusive mobility in France, which for more than 27 years has helped people living in precarious circumstances gain greater independence in getting around, with the goal of social and professional inclusion — and Bird — a global operator of shared e-scooters and e-bikes, present in 10 territories across France — are joining forces to make environmentally friendly urban mobility accessible to as many people as possible in France.

Mobility poverty in France: a major social challenge

In France, 15 million people experience mobility poverty (Wimoov’s 2024 Baromètre des Mobilités du Quotidien, a survey of everyday mobility in France).

  • 40% of them have had to give up on a trip in the past 5 years.
  • 70% of people in France say their travel conditions influence their career choices.
  • Among under-35s in France, 79% say access to mobility solutions is a key factor.

These figures show how urgent it is to offer concrete, accessible and sustainable solutions so that everyone can get around freely and with dignity.

Bird joins Wimoov’s Win platform

As part of this partnership, Bird’s service will be integrated into Win, Wimoov’s digital platform, to offer an additional mobility option in France — particularly for short urban trips.

Solidarity pricing and tailored support

In France, programme beneficiaries will be able to use Bird e-scooters and e-bikes through the Bird Access plan (€0 unlock fee + €0.10 per minute for 1 year). This offer is available in France only.

Events to raise awareness of sustainable mobility

Bird and Wimoov will also host events across France promoting light, inclusive and responsible mobility. Training sessions will be organised to help beneficiaries get confident with these vehicles.

A growing nationwide footprint

The partnership is live in every French city where Bird and Wimoov are already established — including Blois, Bordeaux Métropole, Châlons-en-Champagne and Gap — and will roll out to new shared territories as they come on board.

“Making light, shared mobility available to everyone is a tremendous opportunity to widen access to simple, sustainable and affordable ways of getting around. At Bird, we care deeply about offering services that meet the real needs of city dwellers, including the most vulnerable. This partnership with Wimoov fits squarely within our ambition to make mobility a driver of inclusion right across France.”

Ingrid Lanoë, Director of Public Affairs, Bird France

“This partnership with Bird is a concrete step forward in our ambition to make light mobility accessible to the most vulnerable people. By integrating their service into our Win digital platform, we’re giving our beneficiaries access to a flexible, environmentally friendly and financially sustainable way of getting around, particularly for short trips in the city. With Bird, we’re bringing in a mobility solution for today — flexible and accessible to ever more people.”
