Advancing Connected Safety: Spoke Safety Partnership

Bird Team

Safety has always been at the core of how Bird builds for riders and cities. As streets grow busier and more connected, the next frontier in protection isn’t just reacting faster — it’s helping vehicles anticipate one another before a rider is ever in danger. That’s the promise of our partnership with Spoke Safety.

Together, Bird and Spoke Safety are bringing the first shared-fleet deployment of Spoke’s VRU2X technology to the streets. VRU2X — vulnerable road user to everything — allows vehicles to communicate with one another even when there’s no line of sight, such as around a blind corner or through an obstructed intersection. It’s a meaningful step toward a transportation network where cars, scooters, and bikes are aware of each other in real time.

This marks a milestone for connected, intelligent micromobility. By being the first to deploy VRU2X across a shared fleet, Bird is helping prove that this kind of vehicle-to-everything communication can scale beyond cars and into the lightweight, sustainable modes that increasingly fill city streets.

Rider safety is a responsibility we take seriously, and innovation is how we keep raising the bar. We’re proud to partner with Spoke Safety to help build a safer, smarter future for everyone who shares the road.
